Cellist born in 1998 – Oliwia Meiser – has started her musical journey at the age of seven in the Frederic Chopin High School of Music in Bytom, Poland. Ever since the start of her education, playing the cello has been one of her greatest passions.
The young cellists succeeds both in Poland and on international stade, acquiring numerous prizes and honorable mentions.
Among her most recent accomplishments are: the Golden Finalist title at the 8th International Music Competition and Festival for Soloists and Chamber Groups SVIREL – Slovenia, the 1st prize (2nd not awarded) at the 23dr Polish Cello Confrontations by the name of Zdzisława Wojciechowska in Bydgoszcz, Poland, and also the 1st prize at the 11th. International Cello Competition Antonio Janigro, Croatia. Oliwia was also rewarded with the second prize in the Polish Cello Competition by the Polish Centre of Education and with the Honorable Mention and a Laureate Title at the 10. Polish Dezyderiusz Danczowski Competition in Poznań.
The cellist regularly takes part in various master classes in Europe. SHe has been expanding her knowledge during workshops of professor such as Jens Peter Maintz, Louise Hopkins and Timora Rosler. Oliwia is an active participant of the in Progressive project of music education at European highest standards „Europa ante portas”, as part of which she worked with renowned teachers (Frans Helmerson, Jens Peter Maintz, Philippe Muller). She had performed on stage of the Polish National Philharmonic, Silesian Philharmonic oraz in the Presidential Palace in Bratislava. She had given concerts with Slovakian Cameral Orchestra, Capella Istroploitana, Francingena Chamber Orchestra and Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra.
Oliwia is very active in the field of chamber music. For eight years she has been performing as a part of a piano trio with Sara Madeja and Tomasz Buchta. In years 2011-2014 she was a member of a piano quartet and string quartet “Sine Nomine”. Her most important chamber achievements are: 1st prize at the 11th and 12th Forum of Youth Instrumentalists in Rybnik by the name of Karol and Antoni Szafranek – Rybnik, Poland, 1st prize at the 17th International Chamber Music Competition in Jawor, Poland, 1st prize and The Prize for Performance of Work by the 20th and 21st cent. Composer at the 18th International Competition of Bohdan Warhal in playing the bow string instruments „Talents for Europe” in Dolny Kubin, Slovakia. She is also a concertmaster of the Polish Youth Symphony Orchestra.
In April 2016 the student participated actively in the 20th edition of the Morningside Music Bridge in Beijing and in the Cello Akademie Rutesheim – autumn cello music festival.
Moreover Oliwia is a laureate of the Award by the Mayor of the Bytom city awarded for artistic achievements. She is also a scholar of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Silesian Voivodeship, the Polish National Centre of Culture. She has been awarded a special prize „Wena 2015” – an award for youth in the field of cultural activities by the Major of the Bytom city.
Since July 2017 Oliwia is a member of a prestigious ensemble – LGT Young Soloists – with whom she discovers the worldwide international classical music stage. In 2017 Oliwia studied in the class of prof. Natalia Kurzac – Kotula (Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice). She is currently a student of Universität der Künste Berlin in the class of prof. Konstantin Heidrich.
Oliwia is currently performs as an artist of the TONALiSTEN agency. In 2018 she was awarded during the TONALi2018 competition and has a pleasure to play an instrument made by Paolo Castello, kindly loaned to her by a private sponsor. Since November 2018 Oliwia is a member of Eostra String Sextet, that has recently won the first prize and the special prize at the Alice Samter Competition in Berlin.
